PROCEDURE
3.1 Internal water proofing for Harvesting tank,
Water sump and Fire sump
Surface preparation
ü
Any cement mortar, dust on the surface will be removed
ü
If any honeycombing exists in the structural
concrete, such defective area will be hacked and patched with construction
ground.
ü
The surface will be washed with clean water to
be free from dust and dirt.
Application
ü
Prior to application of the waterproofing the
surface will be wetted.
ü
The contents of Brushbond TGP is mixed with clear water and ensured proper
dispersion of the components. 3 parts of powder shall be added to 1 part of
clean water and mixed thoroughly using a mixer
ü
The first coat will be applied on the concrete
surface.
ü
On the completion of the first coat, the final
coat will be applied cross link to the first coat as per the manufacture’s
specification.
Curing period
ü
Brushbond TGP applied area must be kept moist
for a minimum of 48 hours.
Curing period
ü
The structure will be pond tested for a minimum
of 24 hours.
Protection for the waterproofing
application
ü
On the completion of the pond test the internal
area of water sump, fire sump and harvesting tank will be protected with a
cement sand mortar.

3.2 External water proofing for Harvesting tank,
Water sump and lift pit
Surface preparation
ü
Any cement mortar, dust on the surface will be removed
ü
If any honeycombing exists in the structural
concrete, such defective area will be hacked and patched with construction
ground.
ü
The surface will be washed with clean water to
be free from dust and dirt.
ü Dewatering
will be undertaken to ensure that the area is dry to receive the sheet membrane
(if required)
ü A
cement sand fillet (50mmx 50mm) to be laid at the intersection of the lean
concrete and the vertical structure.
Application
ü
Bitumen primer ( Bitu primer) will be applied to
the surface and allowed to cure prior to areas to receive water proofing
membrane treatment.
ü
The sheet membrane will be the torch laid on the lean concrete and the
vertical concrete structure
ü
The sheet membrane will be terminated minimum
300mm from ground floor level.
ü
A water bar will be used in all construction
joints
ü
The membrane termination points should be
terminated with an aluminum strip that is nailed to the vertical structure and
sealed using a bituminous sealant
ü
The aluminium strip to be sealed with using a
mastic sealant.
ü
Allow to dry one day and
ü
Place the gauge 500 polythene sheet or 10mm
regiform sheet as protection.
ü
Then backfilling will be started.
ü
Pls see attached typical sketch for application
ü
Pls refer attached TDS sheet for more details.
